When we created The fancy sketchpad, we wanted a product with both form and function for an artist on the go. We wanted it to be sturdy, lightweight, A4 or slightly bigger, and have the ability to flip the cover to the back of the pad. We wanted something that not only served to protect our drawings if transported in a bag, but also something we could use out and about if we saw something we wanted to sketch. Additionally, we wanted to be able to tear out the finished drawings easily. And we wanted it to look good. Fancy.
Handmade in our small studio in Uppsala, Sweden. Every book starts with large sheets of paper being folded and cut down in size by hand multiple times. It is a slow process with no machines involved, and every step of the making and design process in treasured and carefully thought through. Our production is small and every product is unique.

Paper quality Papyrus MultiDesign paper is our personal favorite. It has a thickness of 170 gsm and is certified by FSC, EU Ecolabel, and ISO 9001 and 9706 (archival approved). It is a slightly cream toned, uncoated paper which has the perfect "light" feeling under the pen. It is equally suitable for writing and sketching, and absorbs ink very well. Aquarelle works well for just coloring, but mixing paints on the paper does not work.

Perks cover flips all the way to the back. Drawings are easy to tear out. The colors Banana skids, Berries and Sumipumpkin are covered with our own uniquely marbled paper.
